    NMB RECEIVE GREEN APPLE AWARD FOR HEAD OFFICE EXTENSION

    North Midland Building (NMB), a division of Nottinghamshire based civil engineering and building specialists North Midland Construction plc (NMC), has been presented with a Green Apple award for the design and construction of an extension to the company’s head office building at Huthwaite.

    The Green Apple Awards campaign is run by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-political, non-profit organisation that recognises, rewards and promotes environmental best practice around the world. They are presented annually in recognition of companies, councils and communities carrying out projects that enhance environment and there were 500 nominations this year.

    The extension to NMC’s head office was specifically designed to be a low carbon footprint building. It makes best use of sustainable materials and environmental technologies.

    NMC were presented the award by The Green Organisation at their 16th annual international awards ceremony at the House of Commons. The ceremony was hosted by The Rt Hon Patricia Hewitt MP and the presentations were made by star of screen and stage, former Bond Girl Alexandra Bastedo.

    The award-winning project will be featured in the next Green Book, the world’s only work of reference on environmental best practice. NMB will also be receiving a Green Hero Wall Shield during a special prize giving ceremony at The Tower of London next year.

    Mike Catlin, managing director of NMB, said: “The aim was to create a building with a low carbon footprint that would be a valuable addition to the NMC head office. We are proud to have received this award from Green Apple which recognises our strive to create more sustainable buildings within the group and our commitment to delivering sustainable solutions within the construction industry.”
